Hate Doesn’t Heal Hate - The Power of Blessings in a Divided World

Hello everyone, Joshua here!

It’s a beautiful day, and I want to share something that’s been on my heart: when you choose to be a blessing to others, you invite more blessing into your own life.

Over the past week, emotions in our country have been running high. Dramatic events have unfolded, and along with them, I’ve seen an outpouring of negativity. Online, in conversations, and even in everyday encounters, people of different political, social, and personal viewpoints have been lashing out at each other. Hurtful words, hateful comments, and toxic attitudes are everywhere.

I’ll admit—this has affected me, too. It’s hard not to feel weighed down by all the anger and division. But I believe there’s a better way forward. And it begins with something simple, something every one of us can do: speaking blessings.

Why Blessings Matter

Words are powerful. They shape how we think, how we feel, and how we act. If we fill our hearts with bitterness, we become more likely to act in ways that harm ourselves and others. But when we speak blessings—when we wish good for others—we start aligning ourselves with love, kindness, and compassion.

That shift doesn’t just change us. It has the power to change the world around us.

Hate doesn’t heal hate. Violence doesn’t cure violence. Darkness cannot drive out darkness. But love, grace, kindness, and blessings shine brightly piercing even the darkest shadows.

Extending Grace, Even When We Disagree

Here’s something that struck me recently: even I don’t always agree with myself. Looking back, there are plenty of things I’ve said or done in the past that the I of today does not approve of. If you reflect on things you've said and done, I believe you'll also find that the you of today does not fully agree with the you of the past. If you and I disagree even with ourselves of the past, shouldn't we extend grace to those we disagree with in the present?

The truth is, you could sit down with a hundred people and talk through the sensitive issues of politics, religion, or social debates, and you’d find disagreements with every single one of them. None of us fully agree. And that’s okay.

But here’s the challenge: instead of responding with outrage when we encounter those differences, what if we chose to extend grace? What if we responded with kindness, compassion, and a willingness to bless even those who oppose us?

A Daily Practice of Blessing

For me, one of the best times to practice this is on my way to work. It used to be tempting to get frustrated when someone cut me off in traffic. But instead of cursing that driver under my breath, I imagine that person as a dear friend, a family member, or someone I truly care about.

So instead of shouting angrily, “You idiot, learn how to drive!” I take a breath and say, “Be safe brother. Bless you! May you have a wonderful, happy day.”

I look at the trucks, cars, and businesses I pass and speak blessings over them:

  • “You, in the handyman van, may your business prosper and may you be blessed as you bless those you serve.”

  • “I bless this dental clinic, the staff within and all the patients who walk through its doors.”

  • “Peace and safety to everyone on this road today.”

Even if they never hear me, those blessings change me. They shift my attitude, soften my heart, and prepare me to walk into work with kindness instead of irritation.

Choosing Love Over Negativity

We live in a society where it’s easy to tear others down—especially online. But the Blessings Revolution is about choosing a different way.

  • When others curse, we bless.

  • When others condemn, we show compassion.

  • When others bring hate, we speak love.

That doesn’t mean we always agree. But it does mean we recognize each person’s worth. Regardless of job title, social status, political party, or belief system—we are all sacred human beings of equal value.

Be an Agent of Light

The world doesn’t need more hate. It doesn’t need more division. What it desperately needs are people willing to be agents of light—people who choose kindness, forgiveness, compassion, and love.

So I invite you: start small. Speak blessings on your commute. Wish good for your neighbors, coworkers, and even strangers. Practice grace in your conversations, especially when disagreements arise.

Blessings multiply. The more we bless, the more we are blessed and the more we create a world where love, kindness, and compassion can thrive.

Final Word

Friends, let’s start a revolution—a Blessings Revolution. Let’s lift one another up, extend grace, and choose to bless even when it’s not easy.

Be kind. Be generous. Speak blessings. And watch as the light you share comes back multiplied in your own life.

Bless you all, and may your day be filled with love, peace, and goodness. 🌿✨
