  • "Hump day" in popular U.S. culture.

In popular U.S. culture, Wednesday has come to be frequently referred to as "hump day." The connotation is inherently negative implying that the work week is an unpleasant human suffering. Indeed, a job and its accompanying workweek are a cruel and unfortunate enslavement to which the masses of common working class peasants receive a life sentence and have few choices but to endure. Of the few ever-ready alternatives, homelessness, euthanasia and a life of crime are less than appealing options, so the masses begrudgingly persevere the workweek drudgery with the glimmering light of the weekend being the only hope.

  • The weekend is the only shimmering light of hope.

Monday, I had a conversation with a young man in his early-to-mid twenties who was trapped in this diseased mindset of popular culture. It was right before two o'clock in the afternoon. He was almost four hours into his fresh new workweek. I asked him how he was and how his day was going.... A very unenthusiastic "Okay, I suppose" was the reply. I asked him if he liked his employer and his job... another dull "It's okay, I suppose" was his response. I asked if he wanted to be at work.... with blank expression he quickly answered "I'm okay either way. It doesn't really matter to me." As we talked a bit more he explained, "I'm on auto cruise. I'm just trying to get through the week and get to the weekend."

  • "I'm just trying to get through the week and get to the weekend."

Wow! Isn't this tragically unfortunate? It's bound to be a miserable week when we start Monday with a total lack of enthusiasm and our only goals for Monday and the entire week being to survive the week and make it to the weekend. This is a painful way to live (technically alive, but not really living). This approach to life is the one that brings the Sunday afternoon blues. A flood of negative thoughts and emotions destroy whatever Saturday joy may have been so briefly present as the weekend winds down. Only a few hours of weekend remain. Monday morning nears. Ahhh, Monday again. Time to climb back on the struggle bus and try to make it to another weekend.

  • The Monday struggle bus.

Monday morning arrives. The uphill struggle begins. Tuesday... ahhhhh, it's only Tuesday... not even half way to the weekend. Finally Wednesday arrives. It's hump day! Grab the phone.... Facebook, Instagram.... text friends and coworkers a cute "Happy Hump Day" meme. Wednesday lunch break.... officially at the hump day peak. Over the hump! Finally! Time to coast down the other side of the hill through Thursday and on to "TGIF - Thank God It's Friday." If Saturday comes again, another week will have been survived. Yes, another week wasted and miserable.

  • Culture of workplace negativity.

There's no denying that workplace negativity is a heavily engrained element of U.S. culture: the Sunday blues, Monday blahs, Tuesday grind, Wednesday hump day, Thursday ghosting and Friday fade. These are altogether familiar and common negative terms that define the work week for millions -- altogether ludicrous!

  • Entirely optional insanity

This negativity is entirely optional. There is a much better option. We get what we choose. What we focus upon expands. Negativity multiplies. Life is short! Life is precious! Don't waste another week! Don't waste another day!

I declare: Wednesday is "Jump the Hump Day"!

Wednesday is "Jump the Hump Day!"

Here's your positive workweek action plan and "Jump the Hump" challenge:

  • Sunday: Think ahead to Monday. Be grateful for life. Be grateful for the opportunity to: live, to experience life, to serve others, to experience divine love, to love others, to bless others, to bring joy, encouragement, laughter, compassion, care, happiness, hope and light!

  • Monday: When you arise in the morning, greet the day with gratitude. Give thanks for another day of life. Begin speaking blessings: over the day, over your family, over your work, over your boss, over your coworkers, over your customers, over your clients, over the products and services you provide. During your Monday commute, speak blessings over everyone around you. Wish happiness, health, joy, peace, and every good thing to everyone you see.

  • Tuesday: Ask yourself how you can more greatly bless those around you. Think blessings. Speak blessings. Bless others through whatever work you do. As you focus on loving and blessing others, your own heart and mind will be filled with more love, happiness, joy and positive power. Act on positive inspirations that come to you to bless others through kind, caring, loving acts.

  • Wednesday: Add energy and enthusiasm to your morning! Go all in blessing others in thoughts, words, actions and through whatever work you do! Hit the Wednesday hump properly! Don't just roll over the top of the hump to coast down the other side. No, no, no! Hit the Wednesday hump with such powerful, positive momentum that you launch yourself airborne into the stratosphere! Jump the hump! Launch it! Jump the hump and soar boldly like a superhero all the way through to the weekend blessing others all the way!

It's Wednesday -- Jump the Hump!

You're here to love and bless others! You're greatly blessed! Don't dare deny your own blessings. Receive your blessings and bless others! As you bless others, your own blessings will be multiplied. As your own blessings are multiplied, give thanks and bless others even more greatly than ever before!
